Everyone's mentioning that Bali is one beautiful place and there are so
many recommendations from people I know. After a 6-days-and-5-nights tour
in Bali, I had figured that Bali is renowned for its incredible places besides
having its people maintaining its unique culture.
The first thing that caught my eyes was the offerings along the roads and
every corner of the places and buildings. I was totally wondering
its significance in having those offerings outside the house or shops or
buildings. Plus, I love how some offerings they placed have calming scents that
I liked very much.
The second thing that interests me was the lifestyle in Kuta. I see
roughly around 70% tourists and foreigners coming to Bali and rarely meet the locals (except the shop keepers and sellers). I can see how different it is from
Sabah as if like I wasn’t in Indonesia, but in some parts of Europe or America.
The people are so chill and cool and I've seen scenery that I
don't see in Sabah..or Malaysia, generally.
I was in awe while walking down at Kuta Beachwalk. I found it was beautifully designed.. with its restaurants offering a charming view of the
Kuta Beach. And again, I experienced unusual scenery at the beach, where the
locals call it "sumur".. I think.
The third thing that allured me was the way Hindus do their
prayers. I have not been to a Hindu temple before and never witness them doing their prayers. I found it interesting, practically because I have not seen
it before.
The Balinese have a great belief that if a thing or place is
considered sacred, they will pay much respect to them. As foreigners, it is
part of our main awareness to alert on matters that they consider sacred. We were required to wear sarong before making an
entrance to the temples.
Another thing that fascinates me was the sunset at Uluwatu Temple. Its stunning sunset view was unforgettable as we were waiting for the Kecak
Dance performance to start. Although we were gathered in an open and hot area,
I still think that it was worth the wait.
One thing that I think should be changed was the overly visitors capacity. I
would not enjoy a performance if it's overly crowded. Plus, having to sit with
one another with little space and have the late visitors to sit on the floor
for the performance are certainly the things to think about.
The last thing that
interests me was bargaining while you're shopping. Although my attempts to
bargain were not as good as the others, I still love to shop around the markets
with considerable prices. There were many things that I found interesting and quite amusing while shopping and just walking around the
markets. All things were so good to see and I had the most priceless and incredible times travelling with my friends. :)
