JOURNEY TO THE LAND OF A MILLION TEMPLES

By: Samson Michael @ Ladiesman2674

At first, I was sceptical about the trip to Bali as it was located in Indonesia and knowing that our culture here in Malaysia is almost similar. I thought that it would just be the same as what we have in Malaysia. Well, I was proven totally wrong. There is a huge gap in culture between Sabah and Bali and that gave me quite a shock. Words could not even paint a picture of what I've been through there. Only thing I could say about Bali is, it is definitely one of the places that you should visit.

One main thing I like about Bali besides its majestic night life (another story...) is their strong culture. When I hear the word Bali, one thing pops out into my mind...and no its not the wooden penis (again another story...) its more to the temples I see everywhere. So its totally different from Sabah but it gives you a lesson on how important culture is to be preserved just as what the Balinese people had done. Without further delays, I have compiled some pictures showing which places interest me the most.

The first picture shows the man himself in his natural environment. Not even the fiercest tiger could stop me from having fun in Bali. The first place which interests me was the Bedegul Temple. The temple was located up in the mountains. I love this place for its quiet environment which promotes peace and serenity (until we came). The surrounding temperature was cold which was a relief to us who couldn't stand the heat.

The second picture shows the Tanah Lot Temple which is near the seaside. This place really is one of a kind because of its beautiful seaside scenery. Here, we can see a magical well which is said to be the 'Well of Youth'. I didn't really get to see it as a lot of old people gather there. (joking lol) What I did see was the Holy snake and it scared the daylight out of me when I touched it thinking it was sleeping or just dead lol....and another thing there was the souvenirs like the wooden penis caught my attention but I didn't have the guts to buy them...yet

The last picture shows us at Ulun Danu Temple. Here, we get to purify our souls by taking a dip or just dipping our heads in the holy water like no one was watching. I am the one with pink t-shirt. After dipping my head in to the cold water, I finally felt refreshed not to mention trying to get my 'scanning glasses' which was also purified into the water.

It was sad to leave my 2nd home after spending so little time there. I would never forget my time there especially with our tour leader Angie Ong and tour guide Pak Gusti. They were really friendly and fun to be with. And not to mention Pak Gusti's words of wisdom..."Papa strong, Mama happy". I hope one day I will return to this sacred and wonderful place as I have only read the first chapter of Bali and there are many more chapters to go...
